News Blitz 9/14 – Broncos Fined, Panther$ Value is Up, Rivera’s Mistake
ESPN reports that the NFL has fined Broncos players Darian Stewart and Brandon Marshall for their hits on Cam Newton during the Week 1 game.
Darian Stewart has been fined $18,231, for his hit on Newton in the last minute of the game for which he received a penalty flag which was negated by an intentional grounding call.
Brandon Marshall has been fined $24,309 for “impermissible use of a helmet”.
The league is continuing to review other hits and is considering additional fines.
Additionally, Trai Turner of the Panthers was fined $9,115 for taunting, for hopping up-and-down while celebrating the Panthers’ first touchdown of the game.
